2006 Ford GT

Description

The Ford GT was essentially a design study to see whether or not Ford could still build a car that could take on Ferrari's best, meeting strict emissions and modern safety regulations that were never present 40 years ago.

The brief was simple. Recreate the legendary Ford GT40 of 1969.

What you see are of course the results of a team of massively talented Ford engineers who made this wonderful phoenix rise from the ashes. Although not quite as short as the original (the '69 model was 40 inches high, hence the GT40 moniker), the 2005 GT was 44" high at its roofline, but had twice the performance to match the LeMans winning legend.

Powered by a supercharged 5.4 litre Ford quad cam engine, the new GT pulled out a staggering 505bhp and enough torque to make the planet alter its axis. The mid-engined configuration gave the GT phenomenal grip under acceleration and the blue-oval beast could scream down the quarter mile in a thundering 11 seconds. Top speed was in excess of 200mph.

Sadly, Ford only planned a limited run of the GT model and production ceased after only 1 year.

The image drawn features custom power-coated black 22" wheels and the stickered body stripes are a deleted option for a cleaner, high-contrast look.
